What’s a Tampon?

A tampon catches period blood in your body. You place it in your vagina. It keeps you cozy and leak-free.

What Are They Made Of?

Tampons are cotton or rayon. Some have plastic or paper helpers to put them in. Others use your finger.

Tampon Types

Pick a size:

  • Small: Light flow.

  • Medium: Normal flow.

  • Large: Heavy flow.

Choose with or without a helper. Some are organic with no bad stuff.

Choose the Right One

Match your flow. Start with small. Change every 4–8 hours. Too wet in 4 hours? Use a bigger one. Too dry after 8? Use a smaller one.

How to Use It

It’s easy:

  • Wash hands.

  • Sit or stand comfy.

  • Open tampon. Put helper at vagina.

  • Push tampon in soft.

  • Toss helper.

You won’t feel it if it’s right. Feel it? Try again. To take out, pull string slow. If stuck, wait a bit.

When to Swap

Change every 4–8 hours. Don’t keep it in over 8 hours. It might cause a rare sick called Toxic Shock.

Stay Clean

  • Wash hands before and after.

  • Keep tampons dry and clean.

  • Wrap used ones and trash them.

  • Don’t flush tampons.

Myths Cleared

  • Lost inside? No way, it stays put.

  • Hurts? No, it feels good if right.

  • Teens okay? Yes, all with periods can use them.

When to Skip

Don’t use if:

  • You’re sick down there.

  • You had a baby or surgery (ask doc).

  • Not ready? That’s cool!

First-Time Tips

  • Be calm.

  • Try all types.

  • Use a mirror.

  • Ask mom, friend, or doc.
